10-Year-Old Campaigns for Recognition for His Father, a Fallen Soldier

Bryan Nichols died in Afghanistan last Saturday when insurgents shot down a helicopter carrying 38 Americans and Afghans service personnel. He left behind a 10 year-old son, Braydon Nichols.

Losing his father was hard enough for Braydon, so when he noticed that the news was broadcasting images of other fallen soldiers but not his dad, he decided to take action. The 10-year-old sent a picture of his dad to CNN with the following message:

“I have seen other pictures of victims from this deadly mission and wish you would include a picture of my father."

A report about Braydon's message was published Tuesday, and in the ensuing days he has received an overwhelming number of supportive responses and comments.
