A 10-year-old girl from Manaure, Colombia has given birth to a healthy 5-pound, 5-ounce baby girl, Univision’s Primer Impacto reports. The girl, whose name is not being released due to privacy reasons, was brought to a hospital suffering extremely painful contractions. Doctors performed a cesarean section to save her life because her pelvis was not developed enough to deliver the baby. The father of the baby is unknown.
Because the new mother is part of the indigenous Wayuu tribe, an autonomous people in Colombia allowed to govern themselves, police may not be able to prosecute the matter or file charges against the father.
