“One day last year, I sent my rambunctious boys out into the backyard to play so that I could have some time to clean house without them underfoot. I heard squealing and giggling, so went out to investigate only to find them covered in mud from head to toe. They decided to turn the hose on and make mud pies. Nice. My first thought was to get really upset, but then I saw the pure joy that you only see on a child's face, and decided to get my camera instead. This ended up being one of my most proud parenting moments (ironically enough), because even though they had made a huge mess, they were having such fun and just enjoying being kids. It taught me that I am continuously trying to cross things off my to-do list, and sometimes I've just got to stop doing that and look around at what is going on around me. I need more time in the moment, rather than planning the next six or seven moments down the road.” -Brenda Bark of Brenda Writes a Blog
