19-Year-Old Goes From Homeless to College
19-year-old Orayne Williams has come a long way from his years of homelessness on the streets of New York.
Abused by his parents when he was 12 years old, Williams left Jamaica by himself and lived alone in a city shelter in New York. He still managed to graduate from Brooklyn's Bedford Academy with A's. After the Daily News reported his inspirational story, he was offered a place at Manhattanville College in Westchester County.
Orayne has now completed his freshman year, and just started his own charity, Progressive People Movement, to aid needy high school students get into college.
