Should Children Be Put in Jail With Their Parents?

A time-out gone too far? Well, not exactly. Recently released video shows a 3-year-old being locked in a jail cell alongside her mother. Last month, Ohio police arrested Latonya Bass after she tried to shoplift more than $500 worth of merchandise from a local Walmart while her daughter sat in the cart.

Police brought Bass and her girl to the station, where they were placed in a cell until the father arrived. According to police, they thought it was better for the child to be with her mother as opposed to being separated and surrounded by strangers.
