4-Year-Old Declared a 'High Security Threat'

Going through airport security with kids is the low point of many a family travel experience, but for 4-year-old Isabella Brademeyer and her family, it became an absolute nightmare.

On their way home from a wedding, Isabella's mother, sister, and grandmother were passing through security at Wichita Mid-Continent Airport when Isabella's grandmother set off the alarm. She was asked to sit down and wait to be patted down. Isabella ran to give her grandmother a hug, and it was then that the TSO zeroed in on the little girl, calling her out for a pat down of her own. As Isabella's mother, Michelle, wrote on her Facebook page, “It was implied, several times, that my Mother, in their brief two-second embrace, had passed a handgun to my daughter.”

Michelle Brademeyer was not allowed to explain the situation to her daughter or comfort her in any way, and the scared tot tried to run away from the waiting TSO.

“That is when a TSO told me they would shut down the entire airport, cancel all flights, if my daughter was not restrained. It was then they declared my daughter a ‘high-security-threat.’
