Arrest Made in 1982 Disappearance Case Because of Family's Detective Work

After 29 years, a suspect has finally been arrested in the disappearance of Florida mother Amy Hurst, largely due to the detective work of Mrs. Hurst's children. Her husband, William Hurst, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

Jeff Earley, the vicitim's son, says the family has known all these years that his step-father had something to do with his mother's disappearance. Earley continued to investigate his mother's disappearance on his own and unconvered additional evidence about the case through Doe Network, a missing person's website. Through a posting on Doe Network, Earley was able to identify the remains of a woman found in the Gulf of Mexico as belonging to his mother. This new discovery led to the case being re-opened and Hurst being charged with the murder.
