"Sara came up with the vintage carnival theme, and when we first talked, she had so many great ideas," says event planner Ashley Wong. "My job was to edit and refine all the ideas to make the theme very clear and distinctive. It was important to make the carnival romantic and rustic, but still keeping it contemporary. I was inspired by 1940s and '50s typography and natural wood and brass accents.
"The gold circus animals were so easy and chic," Ashley continues. "I just took plastic toy animals and spray painted them gold. You can use them in a variety of ways: cut them in half and do kitchen magnets, use them as place card holders for a dinner party, or take twine and make them into Christmas ornaments. You can also line six gold animals up on a black canvas board (horizontally), glue them down, and frame them. It has a very Jonathan Adler/Kelly Wearstler feel."
