One Doctor's Major C-Section Mistake

Doctors have a habit of being attached to their phones, but one surgeon in Washington took it a little too far. Seattle-based anesthesiologist Arthur K. Zilberstein was just suspended for allegedly sending sexual text messages and photos while performing surgeries. The Washington State Department of Health released a report detailing more than 250 sexual messages that Zilberstein sent during multiple medical procedures, which included Cesarean deliveries and pediatric appendectomies. According to the report, the messages were sent between April and August of 2013.

In addition to compromising patients' safety during surgeries — he allegedly sent 45 sexual messages during a stomach surgery — The Washington Post notes that Zilberstein has also been charged with "looking at private medical records for his own sexual gratification, having sexual rendezvous at work, and issuing at least 29 unauthorized prescriptions." He has 20 days to respond to the charges and request a hearing and will not be allowed to practice medicine in Washington until the matter is resolved. Let's just hope he doesn't take his "skills" to another state. Source: Flickr user UCDMedicine
