When Nobody Showed Up to This Boy's Birthday, Something Amazing Happened

On the morning of his birthday party, 6-year-old Glenn Buratti excitedly counted the minutes until his friends showed up to celebrate — however, after hours of anticipation, not a single guest appeared for the birthday bash. Glenn's mom, Ashlee, had to tearfully explain to her son that none of his classmates were going to make it. Glenn, who has epilepsy and a mild form of autism, was heartbroken . . . and so were his parents.

To blow off steam after the failed birthday party, Ashlee posted on a local Raves & Reviews Facebook page that's popular in her hometown. "I know this might be something silly to rant about, but my heart is breaking for my son. We invited his whole class (16 kids) over for his 6th birthday party today. Not one kid came," the frustrated mom spilled to her fellow Osceola, FL, residents, not expecting anything to come of her Facebook post. Boy, was she wrong!

Within minutes, sympathetic Facebook users began messaging Ashlee, asking if they could come over to give Glenn another shot at an awesome sixth birthday. That Sunday afternoon, 15 kids and 25 parents showed up to the Buratti home, even bringing presents for little Glenn! "One lady brought him a brand new bike," Ashlee shared of the impromptu second birthday party. "One guy brought his camera and spent most his time snapping pictures of our family, which he gave to us. It was just amazing. The people who came out were so awesome." But that wasn't all that the Florida community had in store for Glenn's big day — local law enforcement also wanted to pitch in.

Within an hour of the redo party, the Osceola County Sheriff's Department arranged a helicopter flyover for Glenn. "Half an hour later there they were. They circled the house, flew low and waved," described Ashlee, who later posted a message to the Facebook community thanking them for their kindness. "You don't know how much this meant to us today," she gushed as a follow-up to her original post. She had no clue that her fellow Osceola residents had more special birthday surprises for Glenn.

A few afternoons later, Glenn arrived home from school to find several crews from the local fire department and sheriff's office. Wanting to help make the little boy's birthday a memorable one, the firefighters and law enforcement officers arrived in style — in armored vehicles, police cars, and big red fire trucks, all laden with gifts for Glenn. "Such an amazing thing for our local law enforcement and fire fighters to do for us. Thank you to everyone involved," Glenn's father wrote on his Facebook page. Glenn spent the afternoon touring all the vehicles and opening fun presents, even sitting in the driver's seats of the large trucks. Check out the sweet pictures of his amazing sixth birthday surprise, and you'll find yourself wiping away happy tears over this community's incredible gesture.
