A Garden-Themed Baby Shower Filled With Vintage Charm

Apr 29 2014 - 11:16am

If there's one thing we've learned from the plethora of baby showers we see throughout the year, it's that there's more than one way to play on a theme. While the vintage shower we featured earlier this month [1] was filled with antiques gathered from yard sales over time, the theme can also be done with all new items with a truly nostalgic feel.

When Lina Wallace of A Stunning Affair [2] found out that her friend and fellow event planner was pregnant, she knew she had to plan one amazing shower for her. With a quaint Orange County, CA, tea house as her background, Lina created an indoor garden space and filled it with a vintage beverage station — with the requisite mason jars and striped straws — wooden crates filled with garden flowers, stacked baby books, and sweet china teacups.

Read on to see all of the fine details of this beautiful shower.

The Beverage Station

Mason jar glasses, striped straws with "It's a boy" flags, and small "nibbles" bags filled the table with cold beverages that greeted the party guests.

The Invitation

A sweet garden-themed invitation was designed by Susan Tom-Nellis of Peony & Plum [6], the LA-based wedding [7] floral shop.

The Dessert Table

The dessert table created quite an impression once guests entered the main dining room with its Kraft paper "baby" banner, beautiful cake, flower sugar cookies, and books used as risers.

Cake Pops and Risers

To create more of a vintage feel, baby books in retro-inspired paper served as risers for plates of dessert, such as these cake pops.

Sweet Sugar Cookies

Fantasy Frostings [16] also created sugar cookies to go with the party's theme.

Centerpieces

A garden feel was achieved by wrapping mason jars with kraft paper and trim and filling them with hydrangeas, ranunculus, raw cotton, roses, thistle, and blue delphinium. Kraft paper pinwheels added a fun touch.
