Homecoming King Nominees Give Title to Another Student

Homecoming King Nominees Give Title to Another Student

No-one at Community High School in Tennessee expected Scotty Maloney to be named homecoming king. The junior has a genetic disorder called Williams Syndrome that affects speech and learning. But a pact made by the school's three homecoming nominees to hand the title over to Maloney if any of them won has resulted in exactly that outcome — and students at the school were thilled by the news.

Nominee Jesse Cooper, who won the actual vote, says he wanted Maloney to experience something good during high school. Another nominee in on the pact, Drew Gibbs, added that Maloney is always happy, "so he deserves some recognition for who he is."

Maloney, who was shocked at first, now wears his homecoming king medal everywhere.
