How Popular Will Your Baby's Name Be? There's an App For That!

One minute a child's name is the most popular one on the playground, and the next minute it's practically extinct. Whether you want to ensure that your child's name will be popular for years to come or you want to avoid potential playgroup confusion, the Baby Name Predictor can help you achieve your goal. Developed by Christopher Franck, an assistant research professor in statistics at Virginia Tech, the tool uses past data to predict how a name's popularity will rise and fall over the next 25 years. Parents are able to compare up to six names at a time and can use it for either boy or girl names. As of now, however, the tool is only able to compare more traditional monikers, so names like Apple, Pilot, and Blue only display a very flat line. Test the tool at Time.com and see if your tot's name is a rising star. Source: Time
