Wait Until You See What a Judge Had to Say About Taking a Tween Girl to a Pink Concert

Is taking your 11-year-old daughter to a Pink concert grounds for a lawsuit? One New Jersey dad asked a judge to declare that his ex-wife abused her parental discretion by taking their daughter to the concert, but Superior Court Judge Lawrence Jones thought better of the situation and ruled against the father.

In a 37-page judgement that pulled quotes from Gone With the Wind and cited Elvis Presley, The Rolling Stones, and Bob Dylan, Judge Jones wrote that by taking the tween to the concert, the mother, "in no way, shape or form exceeded the boundaries of reasonable parental judgment" and that "her decision did not subject the child to any unreasonable risk of harm, or compromise [the child's] health, safety, or welfare."

He also reminded the father that parents — especially separated parents — often have different parenting philosophies, but that doesn't make them wrong.

Quoting lyrics from Pink's songs "The Great Escape" and "Perfect" in his decision, he concluded by writing, "When all the smoke from the custody litigation clears, it will be self-evident that all which happened here is that a young girl went to her first rock concert with her mother and had a really great time."

And we couldn't agree more! If there's any concert that could teach a tween girl about girl power and personal empowerment it's Pink, who not only encourages girls to feel good about their bodies, but stands up for the kids attending her shows!
