Levi's Takes Kids' Jeans to the Next Level With Knit Denim

Aug 19 2014 - 5:33am

At first glance, Levi's new Knit Jeans [1] ($30, originally $48) look just like any other pair of denim that the company's been making since 1873. But then you touch them, and had you been blindfolded, you would have thought you were holding a pair of sweatpants. Lest you think we're talking about those PajamaJeans seen on late-night infomercials [2], Levi's appears to have caught onto the fact that elementary school-aged kids just don't love their denim as much as their parents do.

Their new Knit Jeans are just what they say — knit pants with all of the details (and shades) of jeans like grommets, cap buttons, belt loops, and five pockets. They don't have the stiffness of traditional denim and are also free of the bulk of traditional sweatpants, making them perfect for the picky dresser. Levi's is using the new fabric in leggings and "jeans" for girls, skinny and bootcut styles for boys, and denim jackets.
