"I’ll admit: I’m a smoothie crazy lady! My whole family loves them, and we make endless varieties in our house," Melissa confesses. "They’re quick to whip up, and my girls love to help — pressing the blender button is a group favorite!
"Chocolate and black beans are great pals — the beans give the smoothie filling protein, fiber, and a nice creaminess, while the cocoa powder adds a deep and toasty chocolate taste. The banana adds sweetness while also giving the smoothie that delicious, creamy texture. I like the light, nutty sweetness of chocolate-flavored almond milk, but other milks work great, too, such as soy milk, rice milk, or coconut milk. If using cow’s milk, you may want to add an extra teaspoon of cocoa. Kids think they are getting a huge treat, but you’re really giving them a healthy snack."
