You Have to See What This Mom Did to Her Son's Hearing Aid

Hearing aids have come a long way — many are designed so well that they are barely visible when attached to the ear. Barely. Until hearing aids and cochlear implants are completely invisible, kids will notice them. And for those youngsters who wear such devices, the stigma can be overwhelming.

After a friend complained that her daughter wouldn't wear her hearing device because of the teasing she'd endure, British mom Sarah Ivermee — whose 4-year-old son, Freddie, is deaf in one ear and has hearing loss in the other — decided to do something about it. She created hearing aid decals, which featured sports insignias and superheroes as well as flowers, for the kids.

Her clever idea took off, and now she has a company called Lugs, in which she sells her playful spin on hearing aids to kids around the globe. Here is a look at some of our favorite designs.
