These 12 Moms Are the Real Characters You'll Meet at Disney

Flickr user Peter Cartledge

So you've taken the plunge and brought your kids to Disney, yay! Whatever your vacation has in store, you're sure to meet some interesting characters along the way — and no, we're not talking about the movie characters, we're talking about the moms you'll meet! Though there are rarely mothers in Disney films, the parks are sure to be full of these 12 moms who will be soaking in the magic of Disney alongside you and your family.

Breakfast with Mickey, check; Fast Passes to Dumbo, check; bathroom break scheduled for 0200 hours, check. This mama has got everything down, from rides and attractions to where her family will eat lunch and which characters they’re going to wait in line for — she even makes scheduled stops to the restroom. There’s no messing with this mom’s schedule, and honestly, you’ve got to admire her hard work and dedication.

The Nostalgic Mom

The Nostalgic Mom

This mom is totally Disney obsessed, and not just at the park — she’s always dressed in her Mickey Mouse tee and character earrings, she’s got her fraying embroidered Mickey ears on, she's collected al of the park pins and wears them all at once, and her autograph book full of signatures is in her back pocket — this mom is ready for another day at the park and will definitely share all of the things she loves about Disney with her kiddos. You might think this mom is a little overboard (she's wearing Cinderella slippers, which obviously takes commitment), but she’s just superpassionate about that little mouse and his friends.

The Character Hunter

Move over, people, mom on a mission coming through! This mom knows where every character will be and when, and she’s already scheduled waiting on the lines for her kiddos' favorites. She’ll be in the front row for all the parades and shows all over the park, plus, she’ll be the first to have intel on a surprise showing from a princess. Stick by this mom and she’ll help your kids fill up their autograph books in a jiffy.

The Packed Lunch Mom

This mom carries around a huge cooler backpack full of snacks — probably healthy ones — and lunches for her family. You’ll either pity her kids for not being able to enjoy a cheese slice at Pizza Planet, or she’ll make you feel guilty about feeding your kids the park junk — not that guilty, though (turkey legs and Dole Whips for all!).

The Mom With a Baby

Don't tell this mom that you know her secret, but it's totally obvious that her child — sorry, baby — is way too young for Disney and was definitely used as a pawn in her vacation planning game. Though there are ways to do Disney with an infant, she's totally here because she wanted to be, not for the benefit of her kiddo.

The Local

This is the mom you need to stick around if it’s your first time at Disney — she’s from around these parts, and she knows everything there is to know, from getting discounts at the park to where to go off Disney property for the best franchise souvenirs and paraphernalia.

The Line Chatter

The Line Chatter

This mom is a regular Chatty Cathy and isn’t picky about who she talks to. If you get stuck in line with this mama, be ready to talk — erm, listen to her talk — about her kids, the new attractions in the park, which park snacks are her kids’ favorites, and how cute the guy acting as Aladdin is today (you're not too mad about this intel, though).

08
The Rider
Universal Studios

The Rider

Some moms wave to their kids in the distance as they set off on line to ride something, but not this mom! This mom is the first one on line (seemingly skipping it an unlimited amount of times in some sneaky way) — her kids will grudgingly follow huffing and puffing that they wanted to go first — and is psyching everybody around her up for the ride of their lives before eagerly getting on and then running to see the photo afterwards. Even if it is just the spinning teacups . . .

The Frugal Mom
Disney

The Frugal Mom

From heavy packing to coupons and secret codes, this mom somehow manages to not spend a penny at the parks. She’s got food options, she bought toys at discount stores ahead of time, she lugged every single belonging that her child could possibly need, and somehow, she got the tickets for insanely cheap. She’ll probably never tell you her secrets, but you can admire her talents from afar as you spend $13 on a cup of lemonade.

“Let me just get a photo of you with . . ." This mom starts every sentence with a request to take a photo — next to Mickey, a castle, a ride, a bench, that bush over there, an ice cream wrapper — you get the idea. She’ll have a killer scrapbook though, that’s for sure.

The Curious Mom

The Curious Mom

Basically whispering, “Tell me all your secrets,” this mom likes your style and asks as many questions as she can. She wants to know about your family's favorite things at the park and what your itinerary looks like so her and her family could perhaps (accidentally) end up in the same place and hang out together? She either forgot to plan or just thinks you look like a cool mom, which let’s face it, you are.

The Bench Warmer
HBO Films

The Bench Warmer

Totally there for the benefit of her littles, this mom's first choice for a vacation was definitely not Disney. She's a good sport for being there, but you'll likely find her "taste-testing" the beverages at Epcot, waiting at the end of lines with a book or magazine, or honestly, if she can get the coverage from her partner, at the hotel pool.
