10 Moms You Meet While Trick-or-Treating

They say Halloween is all about the kids, but moms play an important part in the festivities. We buy (or, if we're especially talented, make) their costumes, purchase the candy, and take them trick-or-treating. But when it's time to hit up the neighbors for sweets, which role do you take on? Do you ring the bell alongside your children while wearing a killer costume or stand on the sidewalk counting down the minutes till the evening ends? Do you dole out the giant candy bars or hand the kids something healthier? Here, we break down the 10 moms you meet while trick-or-treating with the kids.

The "No Candy" Crusader
Columbia Pictures

The "No Candy" Crusader

This mom won't let her child lay a finger on a Butterfinger or any other chocolate-coated treat. In lieu of sweets, she hands out raisins or coins to the tots who stop by her house.

While other moms were scouring the stores for the perfect Frozen costume, she was sewing her own (better) masterpiece. Her hand-carved pumpkins look like they belong in a window display. Of course, you can't tell her this, because it will make her too happy.

The Paparazzi
Columbia Pictures

The Paparazzi

No, this isn't a costume choice. This Halloween mom is so concerned with taking the perfect picture that she actually slows down the trek around the neighborhood.

The Crossing Guard
HBO

The Crossing Guard

You can spot her kids from more than a mile away thanks to reflective decals, stickers, and other brightly lit objects. Though you applaud her effort to keep the kids visible, you worry the blinding light may do some damage to your own kids' retinas.

The Debbie Downer
NBC

The Debbie Downer

She'd rather be home playing Candy Crush than trolling the streets for sweets. As her kids run to ring the doorbells, she stands back and checks her watch to see just how much longer she has to endure the painful procession.

The Costume-Clad Spookster
CBS

The Costume-Clad Spookster

She's less about the treats and more about the tricks. Be it fake blood or jumping out from behind the bushes and shouting "boo," she loves to give the kids a scare on Halloween.

The King-Size Distributor
CBS

The King-Size Distributor

Fun size? Yeah right! Even regular candy bars don't cut it for this mom, who happily splurges on the largest treats for the neighborhood kids. There's always a long line outside her door, but you know it will be worth the wait.

The Superstitious Sweetheart
NBC

The Superstitious Sweetheart

This is one woman who has never overcome her childhood fears. She crosses the street if she sees a black cat, worries that spotting a bat means someone will soon die, and swears people still put razors in candy.

The Peanut Police
ABC

The Peanut Police

OK, we are actually grateful for this mom. While the rest of you decide which house to hit up next, she's checking the candy for any allergens that could affect your trick-or-treating group.

The One Who Kills It
NBC

The One Who Kills It

She's not overly enthusiastic about Halloween but doesn't dread the holiday either. Her main goal is making sure the kids have a great time —and sneaking some of their candy once they fall asleep.
