Our Must Haves For August

Aug 1 2014 - 7:58am

Schools are opening their doors, expectant moms are opening their closets, and kids are getting ready to hit the books this month. We're still in the dog days of Summer, but our minds are racing toward Fall and all that the season has to offer. To get you ready, we're eyeing two big designer collaborations — one for kids' shoes and one for moms-to-be — this month, some adorably inspiring Mickey Mouse gear, and two charitable projects that give something to children in need every time you make a purchase! Read on for our must haves for the month of August.

Peek Disney Collection

Peek . . . Aren't You Curious has always been on a mission to design quality clothes with positive messages, but their latest collection may be their most inspiring yet. Turning to classic Disney characters, Peek is introducing a sophisticated lineup of graphic t-shirts for girls, boys, and babies [1] featuring 1928 Mickey and Minnie Mouse characters and inspirational quotes from their creator, Walt Disney. With lines like, "Whatever you do, do it well" and "When you’re curious, you find lots of interesting things to do," the collection is one you'll want to pick up before they're gone!

Liberty Prints For Isabella Oliver Maternity

We're simply smitten with the ultra-feminine, limited-edition Liberty print collection at Isabella Oliver [3]. It encompasses three floral print pieces in fabric direct from the Liberty Art Fabrics Archive: a tunic, form-fitting v-neck dress (shown here), and a T-shirt dress. The collection ranges from $145-219.

FoodStirs

Get ready for a new subscription box to hit your front stoop. Unlike other boxes that tend to be filled with items you really don't want or need, Foodstirs [4] is a food crafting kit that comes with a baking recipe and ingredients, a healthy dinner recipe, a lesson sheet with fun food facts, and some specialty tools and crafts. Sold in either a three-month "Culinarian series" ($30/month) or a six-month "Sous Chef series" ($28/month), the kits are designed to get kids into the kitchen and creating with their parents.

Nuna IVVI

If you have a little one on the way, or are looking for a great baby shower gift, head straight to Nuna's website on Aug. 11. The Dutch stroller company will introduce the Nuna IVVI [5] ($800) on that date. The Nuna IVVI is one that will grow with baby through the years. With an all-weather seat that can be changed with the seasons, babies are never too hot riding in it (ask any mom who's ever picked her baby up only to notice swamp diaper and you'll understand). The other fabulous feature on the pushchair is its "dream drape," which provides plenty of sun blockage so little ones can get in a good nap on the run.

Aerin & First Book Bundle

Aerin Lauder is teaming up with First Book — a charity that provides books to needy children — to create a bundle of great books for kids ages 0-3 and 4-8. The AERIN & FIRST BOOK children's bundles [6] ($41) include five age-appropriate books, like Pat the Bunny and Are You My Mother? for the younger set and Paris in the Spring with Picasso and Duck & Goose for older kids.

Wendy Bellissimo For Destination Maternity

You already know that Wendy Bellissimo can design beautiful nursery decor and clothes for your baby, but starting this month she's dressing moms-to-be. The designer's boho-chic style is entering Destination Maternity stores this month through the Wendy Bellissimo for Destination Maternity Collection [7]. The casual maxi dresses and layering tops are accompanied by moto jackets and scarves to create trendy Fall looks that expectant moms will want to cozy up to this season.

Golden Goose For Bonpoint

We're swooning for Golden Goose's new collection of sneakers made expressly for Bonpoint. The Italian shoemaker has crafted a collection of three kicks — all featuring their iconic stars — for the luxury French clothier. Ranging from $335-$510, the shoes are only available in their flagship shops in New York City, Bal Harbour, FL, and Beverly Hills.

SoYoung For Honest

One of our favorite lunch box companies of all time, SoYoung knows how to craft a functional and stylish tote for the cafeteria. So when we heard the company is designing a limited collection for Jessica Alba [8]'s Honest Company Collective [9], we couldn't be happier! Four designs — Blue Giraffe, Pink Cupcake, Skulls, and Tribal Stripe — are included in the collection ($30 each), which will be available beginning Aug. 12.

Burt's Bees Baby — Now In Kids' Sizes

We fell in love with Burt's Bees Baby [10] back in 2012, as it offers high-quality, simple designs in soft, organic fabrics. Last year, they expanded to toddler sizes, and now BBB goes up to size 7. See all of the soft and sweet pieces [11] ($7-30) for girls and boys here.
