Score! NBA Team Signs Special-Needs Teen

Feb 18 2014 - 9:00am

He shoots, he scores! Scores an NBA contract, that is. While many teens dream of playing with the pros, for Kevin Grow, that dream has become a reality; the Bensalem High School senior has signed a ceremonial two-day contract with the Philadelphia 76ers. Grow, who has Down syndrome, caught the attention of the NBA team after scoring 14 points for his high school team earlier this year. The coach finally put Grow, the four-year team manager, in the lineup during the team's final two games of the season.

As part of his contract, Grow will receive a custom jersey and participate in pregame activities prior to the 76ers home game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday, Feb. 18. Grow and his teammates will also participate in a special presentation prior to tipoff.
