12-Year-Old Receives a Special Birthday Surprise

Most children celebrate their birthday with lots of treats, decorations, and noise. For Logan Pearson, however, his special day is often celebrated in silence. The 11-year-old from Massachusetts has severe autism, making it difficult for him to speak and socialize. Sick of the lonely birthdays, Logan's mom Catherine turned to social media, asking family, friends, and members of Autism Live to send her son some birthday love.

While hundreds of people sent cards, a group of readers decided to do something different. Officers from the Cambridge Police Department organized a surprise birthday party for Logan at a local Fuddruckers. Two dozen police officers were in attendance for the celebration.

"This is something that I'll remember forever," Lt. Edward Guy told a local news station. "We've made a friend for life."
