The 5 Most-Talked-About POPSUGAR Moms Stories This Week

There's never a shortage of news in the parenting world — from new studies to differing parenting styles. It all provides us with fodder to discuss on the playground, in the pickup line, and online. Take a look at the five stories that had our moms talking the most this week.

  1. At What Age Do You Leave Your Children Home — Alone?
  2. When a parenting topic strikes a personal chord with one of our editors, we're always curious to see where our readers will weigh in. After polling you to get some feedback on when it's appropriate for kids to be left home alone, the consensus was that it's really not smart, or safe, until they hit the double digits. Most readers agreed that 12 was the magic number that makes a child responsible enough to hold down the fort — for a short amount of time — on their own.

  3. Two Sees Onesies For Quick Diaper Checks: Ga Ga or Gag?
  4. Every mom who's been let down by inaccurate results from the "diaper sniff test" perked right up when she learned about these new peekaboo onesies from Two Sees. "Where was this when my kids were babies?!" one mom commented on the story. While we presented the new product — which features a discreet rear flap to take a quick peek at baby's diaper — as a "Ga Ga or Gag," the resounding response was 81 percent approval!

  5. The Story Behind Love You Forever Is Probably Not What You Thought
  6. Whether you love it or prefer to leave it on the shelf, the book Love You Forever has made its way into almost every mom's reading repertoire at some point. Our friends at BabyCenter discovered the inspiration for author Robert Munsch's sweet, emotional story about the undying bond between a mother and child, and it's not what we would have ever expected. The story behind the story really seemed to resonate with our readers for the second week in a row.

  7. Fifteen Unexpected and Original Names For Baby Boys
  8. This list of 15 unique names for little boys — from Maddox to Miller — was a hot topic this week. Some readers uncovered great inspiration for their boys on board; others were just anxious to share their own inventive names. Regardless of what brought you to it, you were all about this story this week!

  9. McDonald's to Replace Toys With Books in Happy Meals
  10. McDonald's will put 20 million books into Happy Meals from Nov. 1 to 14 in an effort to educate kids, inspire good choices, and appease critics. While it's a limited time switch for McD's, some parents believe that that it's a great way to encourage early readers — others are viewing it as propaganda on the part of the fast food company (the books are McDonald's branded).
