I could be a great inventor.

Scratch that.

I would be great at coming up with genius ideas that would make my life easier, and having some other person dedicate the time, money, and know-how to bring my ideas to fruition. I can't even assign a number to the amount of times I've said "I wish [insert crazy, yet helpful idea here] existed, just to make this moment easier/slightly more convenient."

Some of the ideas I've had could actually be considered helpful to many, but others are probably exhausted nods to my slipping sanity and would bring me under the radar of CPS. Judge for yourself, but I think it's pretty obvious.

  1. Pacifier strap. No, I'm not talking about that cute little ribbon that attaches the pacifier to your baby's shirt so that it's always in reach. I'm talking about something along the lines of those once-cool croakies for sunglasses. A strap that keeps the pacifier in your baby's mouth so you're not forced to play that "fun" game of replacing baby's pacifier all night long. It's likely that this idea came to me as I did the Zombie Shuffle to my daughter's room for the 1,000th time in the middle of the night. Doesn't seem so great on paper.
  2. Roomba for toys. We don't own a Roomba, one of those little vacuums that runs on auto, supposedly keeping your house clean. The sheer amounts of dog hair, goldfish crackers, broken crayons, and puzzle pieces strewn about would choke that thing on it's first day. However, wouldn't it be nice if there was one that was able to constantly vacuum up toys? Perhaps it could organize them and put them away, too? I don't know how that would be possible, but I'm only the creative mind of this operation.
  3. Car seat buckle cooler. I understand that car seat buckles have to be made of metal, but why do they have to harness the full potential of the sun? I'm buckling my kid in, not branding cattle. On any average Summer day, temperatures outside easily reach a balmy 95ºF. I'm no mathematician, but inside the car, I'm guessing it gets to be around 500ºF, give or take. I'm sure those buckles feel nice on exposed skin. I don't know how you'd cool those buckles, but again, I'm just the creative genius here.
  4. Kid-sized hamster ball. Kids have a lot of energy. On days where it's too yucky to be outside, my toddler runs around the house all crazy-like. She's at the perfect height to smack her head against every corner in our house. If I could put her in a hamster ball, she could run into everything with no problem. Bonus if this ball could somehow generate power for the house as she was running around in it. But now that I'm thinking about it, my childhood hamster frequently tumbled down the stairs in his ball. I guess this is another one of those "theoretical good ideas."
  5. Baby socks that actually stay on baby's feet. I really don't think this needs much explaining, but it seems to defy all physical properties to have something like this in existence. You put on baby's socks, and within mere seconds, one is off and already missing. Every. Single. Time.
