A Fashion Designer's Chic Lavender Baby Shower

Jun 27 2014 - 11:16am

To celebrate the upcoming arrival of her second baby, NYC-based fashion designer Rebecca Minkoff [1] and her husband, Gavin Bellour, were the lucky recipients of a chic coed baby shower thrown by a group of Minkoff's girlfriends. While it was an adults-only affair, big-brother-to-be Luca was a major influence in the shower's theme. "One day I asked him [Luca] what he wanted to name his baby sister, and he said Gouda!" Rebecca said. "I don't know where he got it from, but she's been Gouda ever since." The gouda references were prominent in the day's decor, favors, and, of course, food. But with props and styling by Minted [2] and a very fashion-forward guest list, the lighthearted tone was carried off with effortless elegance.

Lovely in Lavender

"I'm not a pink person, so lavender and gray was girlie without being overt," Rebecca said of her shower's color scheme.

Snack on This

With all of these little edibles, a traditional baby shower cake [10] was not necessary.

An Appealing Palette

The inspiration for the lavender and gray color combo came, inadvertently, from Rebecca herself (via these bags from her current collection [12]).

Cheese, Please

Because you can't celebrate a baby "named" Gouda without, well, gouda, now can you?

Oh, Goody!

The favor bags were stocked with a wide range of goodies, from locally made chocolate bars to beauty products from L'Oréal. The standout, however, had to be the custom "I Heart Gouda" tote that carried it all — so cute.
