Recipe: Easy Smoothies

Recipe: Easy Smoothies

This smoothie recipe is a great way to start the day or to use as a snack. Frozen fruit acts as the ice, leaving you with the perfect smoothie texture. I like to use almond milk instead of traditional milk (my kids haven’t noticed), but you can use either.

Try this with frozen mixed berries, a combination of frozen mango & strawberry, or strawberry & banana. If you're looking for more sweetness, add 1 tablespoon of honey or agave nectar or a splash of orange juice. If you're looking for a creamier consistency, add up to 1/2 cup of yogurt.

Ingredients

2 cups frozen fruit
2 tbsp protein powder (optional)
2 cups almond milk or regular milk

Preparation

Place the frozen fruit and protein powder in a blender. Pour in the almond milk. Blend until smooth.

Taste and add optional ingredients, if desired, such as honey, agave nectar (1 tablespoon), or a splash of orange juice for sweetness; and yogurt (up to 1/2 cup) for creaminess.
