Schools are supposed to show respect for different religions, but a Hampton University student says her school embarrassed her when it asked her to remove her headscarf to take her school ID picture, Yahoo! Shine reports. According to 26-year-old Melonna Clarke, she routinely wears a hijab as part of her Muslim faith. But the school would only take her school ID if she removed the scarf or provided proof of her religion. Without a school ID, Clarke would be unable to enter the library or other campus locations that require proof of identity. Clarke says the policy is a form a prejudice. But the university dress code states that students who want to wear religious or cultural clothing and headgear must make a written request and go through a review process.
