1 Mom's Postpartum Body Message Might Be Exactly What You Need to Hear

After months of the uncomfortable changes that come along with literally growing another human inside you, it's a jarring experience to see your body after childbirth. Although every mother has a different experience with postpartum body image, many struggle with the feeling that they'll never "bounce back" to the way their bodies looked before giving birth. Celebrity moms, pro athletes, and famous fitness personalities are no exception; just ask Australian CrossFit enthusiast, fitness influencer, and new mom Revie Jane Schulz.

Schulz shared some insight into her postbaby mindset with her 135,000 Instagram followers, offering an honest perspective on the physical insecurities that can come along with a new bundle of joy. "I remember just after having Lex I still looked about six months pregnant," Schulz captioned a photo of her transition from 21 weeks pregnant to five months postpartum. "Despite trying to convince myself that it will go back down, inside I believed my tummy would stay that way forever. It took a good three months for my pouch to start shrinking again." Despite being a workout enthusiast and champion of body confidence, Schulz feared that her own body would never look the same again.

But, she encouraged followers, that postpregnancy tummy did eventually begin to shrink. "It does shrink back down, I promise," she wrote. But more importantly, photos of her postpartum physique remind Schulz that her body is a miracle: "I STILL cant believe I grew a human, the sweetest little human I could have ever dreamed up — baked for 41 weeks and three days right there in my belly."

Everybody's physical recovery from childbirth is different, and there's no "one thing" to expect from your own postpartum journey. But Schulz's message to new moms is to not abandon hope — your body is even more beautiful because of what it has created.
