Stuart Scott Thanks His Daughters in a Touching ESPY Speech

Those who weren't tuning in to the 2014 ESPY Awards on Wednesday night missed a truly moving moment from Stuart Scott. The SportsCenter anchor received the Jimmy V Perseverance Award, which is given to a member of the sports world who has overcome great obstacles through perseverance and determination. For Scott, that obstacle is cancer. He was diagnosed with a rare form of the disease in 2007, and almost didn't make it to the ceremony due to liver complications and kidney failure the week before. But, as he said, he pulled through and continues to fight. Scott's speech was filled with many tear-inducing moments, but the most notable was when he thanked his two daughters for helping him through the toughest time of his life.

I have one more necessity. Well, it's really two — two very vibrant, intelligent, beautiful young ladies. The best thing I've ever done, the best thing I'll ever do, is be a dad to Taylor and Sydni. I can't ever give up because I can't leave my daughters. Yes, sometimes I embarrass them. Sometimes they think I'm a tyrant — that's a direct quote. Taylor and Sydni, I love you guys more than I will ever be able to express. You two are my heartbeat. I am standing on this stage, here tonight because of you.

We bet Scott's daughters were anything but embarrassed by his touching tribute. Front Page
