BAM! A Seriously Super Superhero Staff Appreciation Week Party

Mar 14 2014 - 12:08pm

I don't know about you, but I'm thinking it's time I upped my game for some of the most underappreciated people in our kids' lives: their teachers. My inspiration: Maegan Birr, owner of Simply Styled Home [1] and Scrapaholics [2]. She styled and created the printables [3] for this superhero staff appreciation party that not only was absolutely amazing but also spanned an entire week. Maegan was inspired simply by her admiration for teachers; "I have such admiration and respect for teachers. I could never do their job. To me, they are the best superheroes! I want to show appreciation to them in every way I can." And she sure did! Scroll on to see the fantastic party.

Superhero Invitation

Maegan's favorite element was the invitation. She said, "I loved the invitation. It captured the tone of the event perfectly, and the colors really popped."

Monday: Popcorn Bar

Making gourmet popcorn is not that hard. In fact, you can get all the delicious recipes for the popcorn bar on Maegan's Simply Pop Pinterest board [6].

Tuesday: Super Boxed Lunches

The parents made "boxed" lunches for every staff member at the school. Maegan included a questionnaire with the invitations asking each of the staff's likes and dislikes, and then she forwarded the answers to the parents who signed up to make lunches.

Wednesday: Supercharged Breakfast

Maegan included drink orders with the ZAP! Breakfast Invitation [9] and asked that the teachers and staff return them the Thursday before Staff Appreciation Week. They had the choice of a supercharged smoothie (berry smoothie) or a drink from Starbucks. The drink orders were printed on 8-1/2-by-11-inch sticker page and cut to size.

Thursday: "Soup"er Lunch

The "soup"er lunch included six varieties of soup.

Thursday: "Soup"er Lunch

Along with the soup, the staff was served up a dose of awesome with some fresh fruit and water. Maegan especially liked the "I Think You Are SOUPer" stickers, which served as napkin rings, and the "Emergency Hydration" drinks. The back of the water bottles said, "Super powers will activate within 10 minutes of drinking." All the party printables can be purchased from the SimpyStyledHome Etsy shop [12].

Friday: Cupcakes and Macarons

Macarons from the Splendid Sweet Shoppe [15] were simply divine. And the fondant toppers from Three Monkeys Cakery [16] were added to grocery store cupcakes.

Friday: Cake Pops

It's not a party unless there are cake pops, and these Decadent Cake Pops [20] were (if you can believe it) gluten-free and vegan.

Friday: Wonder Woman Rice Krispies Pops

Not into the cake pop craze? How about adding some Rice Krispies pops to the party? These adorable ones were from Wickedly Whipped [22].

Superhero Poster

The superhero posters were a huge hit. The students especially loved them. When Maegan was taking them down at the end of the week, a little boy said to her, "Why are you taking the posters down? You aren't a superhero! You're a villain!"

"I Think You Are Super" Cards

On the Friday before the party week, the students were sent home with "I Think You Are Super Because . . . " pictures to color for their teachers. On Monday, the students presented the pictures and notes to their teachers, and the room moms came in and put them on the classroom doors along with the 8-by-10-inch superhero photo.
