Teacher Films Herself Taunting a Student With Autism

It's bad enough when children are bullied by their peers, but when a teacher gets involved in the teasing, then things have definitely gone too far. Nicole McVey, a teacher at Oaktree Elementary School in Goodrich, MI, recently shot a video showing her mocking a student with Asperger syndrome. The fifth grader got stuck in a chair, and rather than help him out, the teacher decided to film the incident. She can be heard laughing and asking the child if he wants to be "tasered." McVey showed the video to her students, fellow teachers, and Principal Michael Ellis, who also shared it. When the superintendent found out about the situation, he confronted both McVey and Ellis and gave them the option to resign or be fired. The principal chose to leave his position, while the teacher is taking legal action to stay in her role.
