This Little Boy Is Expected to Make a Full Recovery After Internal Decapitation

It is an absolute miracle that 16-month-old Jackson Taylor is not only moving, but that he's alive at all. The Australian toddler was in a severe head-on car accident last month that left him internally decapitated. But following a six-hour surgery, he's expected to make a full recovery! Yup, you read that right, even though the boy's head was separated from his neck, he's expected to walk, run, and do all the things that toddlers do!

The excellent prognosis is due to the fact that the tot's spinal cord remained unharmed despite the severity of the rest of his injuries. "A lot of children wouldn't survive that injury in the first place," his spinal surgeon Geoff Askin said."And if they did and they were resuscitated then they may never move or breathe again." Dr. Askin and his team were able to reattach Jackson's vertebrae using wire and a piece of the boy's rib.

Though he'll have to wear a halo for the next few months to allow the tissues and nerves connecting his head and spine to heal, it doesn't appear to be affecting his morale at all! He's already moving, laughing, and hugging, like most boys his age. Talk about a true miracle!
