Mother and Daughter Who Turn Paper Into Dresses Get Vogue Treatment
Everyone in the fashion industry is busy preparing for Monday night's Met Gala, including one of our favorite designing duos, Angie and Mayhem. The mother-daughter team, who gained attention earlier this year for turning leftover construction paper into high-fashion-inspired gowns, are designing again for Monday's big event. The pair teamed up with Vogue, the host of the annual gala, to re-create some iconic looks from past years and began posting them on Vogue's Instagram feed today.
The two got their start after Angie noticed that her daughter, who the mother calls Mayhem online, no longer liked her princess dresses. So the photographer suggested they design their own outfits. While many think that Angie does all the work, she says that's not the case.
"The ideas are pretty much a 50/50 split, but Mayhem constructs a lot more than most people would probably believe," Angie told The Huffington Post at the time. "At this point, she knows exactly how many sheets of construction paper she needs to make herself a top and a bottom. She can lay the entire thing out and tape it together all by herself."
Each day, the two cut and tape a truly one-of-a-kind outfit that they then share on Angie's website, Fashion by Mayhem. While Angie doesn't know if this will be a lifelong passion for her daughter, she is happy that they have this special time together.
"I have no idea if it will continue, but as long as she wants to make them, we'll keep doing it." Scroll down through to see the duo's Vogue designs, as well as other cute and colorful creations. Source: Instagram user voguemagazine
