While the idea of a safari-themed nursery may seem bold and boisterous, Lisa Hershman of Play Chic Interiors opted for a sweeter, more subtle approach for her NYC client. The white-washed room gets a major punch of color from a piece of statement-making modern art, which was the inspiration for the room (and a gift from the new mom's incredibly talented best friend), sunny yellow storage shelves, and the prettiest Anthropologie rug (more on that later!). "When the client brought me on board, she was already eyeing the Bennett double dresser from Room and Board," Lisa told us. The baby's gender was a surprise, so everything that went into the room had to work for either a little boy or a girl — proof that unisex definitely doesn't have to be boring. "My favorite element in the room is the artwork," Lisa said of the piece hanging over the crib, which was given to her client as a wedding gift. "The client's favorite element is the pendant (Plantation Design's Ferro Chandelier). It's a sophisticated piece that one would not expect to find in a nursery. Although it's large, it's tailored and crisp. It gives the room a subtle hint of glamour that really ties it together," she added.

Walls That Wow

At first glance, the nursery walls are simply a blank canvas for all the other high-design pieces throughout the room. But upon closer inspection, they're actually textured with a geometric block pattern thanks to Graham & Brown's Superfresco wallpaper. Best of all? It's paintable! So if mom and dad ever tire of the baby's space, they can change the color without removing it. Source: Racquel Bianca Creative for Play Chic Interiors
