This Mom's Emotional Note Is Why It's Important to Help Parents of Kids With Special Needs

Parenting is hard, and having a kid with special needs often amplifies the everyday challenges moms go through. One blogger took to Facebook to remind parents of the importance of lending a helping hand wherever you can.

Her post started by describing a situation many parents have gone through at one time or another — your kid refusing to come down from a jungle gym. "She had been in there for hours and was trying everything she could think of to get her son out of there. He wasn't coming down," she wrote.

Rather than just giving the struggling mama some side-eye, the mother of two decided to help her get her son, who has special needs, down from the slide. She started by having her own kids coax him off the slide and even tried to bribe him down with the promise of future play dates. Eventually, after a few other kids jumped in, he came down.

Once her son was by her side, the mom got pretty emotional: "With tears in her eyes, she said thank you. She told me most moms look at her like she has a disease. How heartbreaking."

She ended the post by encouraging parents to put themselves in that struggling parent's shoes. "Think. Then offer kindness. It matters. Every little bit matters."
