Volvo Inflatable Car Seat

Are Inflatable Car Seats in Your Child's Future?

The days of superheavy car seats may soon be a thing of the past. Volvo recently released plans to produce inflatable car seats, which will be half as heavy as a standard seat. Currently in the conceptual phase, the rear-facing car seat would weigh less than 11 pounds and inflate in under a minute. When not in use, the seat would deflate to a size that fits in backpacks and suitcases, making it ideal for families who like to travel. If Volvo produces the car seat, it would be made from a military-developed fabric meant to sustain high internal pressure.

Would you put your child in this car seat?
