When a doctor gives you the news that your baby is breech, there's a good probability any chance at a natural birth is dashed and a C-section awaits.

But for those willing to try anything to get their unborn baby turned around in the right direction, there are some options.

One hospital-administered procedure called external cephalic version, or ECV, involves the manual turning of the baby from a breech position to the proper head-down position. But before you sign yourself up for the technique, you might want to watch this video (or this one!) to see how it's done.

Before giving birth to her son, Kim Kardashian underwent an ECV after trying everything else: "I lay practically upside down three times a day for 15 minutes," she blogged when she was still pregnant. "I play music in the right position and ice my belly in certain spots to get him to squirm out of the breech position. I even started acupuncture where I burn moxa on my pinky toe every day! I am even attempting hypnosis!"

When recounting her ECV experience, she said that three doctors worked together to turn the fetus. And if it looks uncomfortable, that's because it is. Although she was given an IV of meds to relax her uterus, they don't administer any pain medication.

"And let me tell you," she wrote. "This was so painful. Probably more painful than childbirth. But it worked!"
